32-inch LCD HDTV with full HD 1080p resolution lets you take full advantage of HD sources like a Blu-ray Disc Player or PlayStation3 gaming console, Ambient Sensor and LightSensor technologies automatically adjust the color and backlight based on a room’s lighting, USB port for photos, music and video playback; Wi-Fi adapter ready; BRAVIA Sync controls compatible devices with one remote, Inputs: 4 HDMI, 2 component, 2 composite, 1 PC, 1 USB, 1 optical digital audio output, Includes removable stand; measures 31.5 x 21 x 8.75 inches with stand

The picture quality is outstanding, there are numerous adjustments to make the picture look the way you want. Other adjustments include audio and settings for features. Full HD 1080p only makes it look even better. Sony advertises this TV with the “ambient” sensor that detects the lighting situation in your room so that it adjusts the backlight of the TV to compensate. I did some tests with the sensor on or off and it didn’t make that much of a difference but the ambient sensor does work, it will decrease the backlight of the TV if you’re in a dark room (or at night) and increase it if the room is lit up. Features also included with this TV is the ability to play music, photos and videos from a USB device which is great but I don’t see myself using it. The thing that stands out with this TV set is its design. It looks like a piece of art once you remove the packaging materials. There are an influx of ports and connections on the rear and side. Component, composite, HDMI, Audio, VGA, you name it, it will have most likely have it.

Sony’s S-series TVs put amazing picture quality and stunning dynamic contrast in reach for value-oriented consumers who want to step up into the Sony Full HD 1080p experience. These TVs represent the entry-level models in Sony’s large screen offerings in 2009 and offer the superior resolution and contrast, advanced image processing features, and variety of HD input options available on high-end BRAVIA HDTVs — all in an affordable package. With three HDMI connections, you can hook up a Sony PlayStation3 entertainment system, Blu-ray Disc player, or any other HDMI-capable equipment and get uncompressed digital video and multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. You also have numerous other HD connection options, including YPbPr Component inputs as well as a PC input for using your laptop or desktop PC with your big-screen HDTV. No matter which HD source you use, the exclusive Sony BRAVIA Engine 2 fully digital video processor ensures that images look sharp and brilliant. With BRAVIA Link compatibility, you can easily expand your high-resolution home theater set-up with optional BRAVIA Wireless Link, BRAVIA DVD Link, or BRAVIA Input Link Modules. And BRAVIA Sync makes controlling everything a snap. Additionally, BRAVIA S-Series HDTVs exceed Energy Star 3.0 requirements by incorporating advanced power saving features, such as Light Sensor technology that adjusts backlight intensity based on ambient room lighting conditions and Dynamic Backlight Control that adjusts backlight intensity based on the brightness of the image on the screen. Utilizing these features can reduce power consumption by up to 60% in a typical home theater environment.

“32″ Sony Bravia TV”
I ordered this tv a couple of weeks ago and am very pleased with it and the speed with which it arrived. I am not a techie and just wanted a good flat screen for my den. I don’t know what the other reviewers mean when they talk about a blurring of faces or things when there is fast movement. I have never experienced anything like that on any of my tv’s. I also own an LG 50 ” plasma and never had that problem on it. The sound on this tv is fine for me and have no problems. It was fairly easy to set up the colors to my satisfaction. Something that I still haven’t gotten right on my LG. Overall I am very happy with the tv and with the service from Amazon.

“Sony HDTV Greatness at an affordable price!”
Just received this Sony model on this past Saturday (day after Black Friday). Has worked perfect and it came (purchased from Amazon) with latest firmware update from August 4th. I was prepared and even had it downloaded into mu USB flash card but didn’t need it. Image is pristine and looks terrific sending in 1080i from Directv and 1080p/24 Blu Ray from a PS3. Gaming also worked nicely. There are plenty of picture adjustments so tweaking to get the most optimal image will not be to hard. Sound was fine and with the latest firmware there has not been any buzzing. This 1080p HDTV for under 500.00 is a steal!

“Warning to Buyers: Need to Update it, but VERY VERY EASY”
This TV is amazing for your kids or a sub-room. For your main room, maybe not. However, the quality is flawless, especially if youre using HDMI cables to view it.

Anyways to the main problem: The TV does require a firmware update. However, DO NOT BE SCARED. the only thing you need for the update is easy; a USB Port and 1 free program which takes 35-45 seconds to download from the website. Heres the link to the update:

[...]

Download this and put it on a USB port. The one bad thing is that the TV DOesnt read MOST USB ports, but keep trying different ones until it works. Once you update it, MOST problems will go away, ive had this TV for a while and never had a problem. I updated it and still have no problems. But as people know SONY always stands by their products.

Good luck to all buyers

Sony Bravia L-Series HDTVs provide vivid 720p resolution and dynamic contrast ratios of 13,000:1 (the 26-inch model) and 13,000:1 (for 32-inch model), with several versatile sizes perfect for the budget-conscious consumer or anyone wanting an HDTV that works well in the bedroom, kitchen, or office. Bravia L-Series HDTVs have a wealth of HD connections, including three HDMI inputs. Each HDMI input transmits uncompressed digital video and multi-channel digital audio on a single cable, so you can expand your home theater system without a lot of messy wires. Also included is a PC input that lets you use your HDTV as a computer monitor. If you need to streamline your HD components further, the Bravia L-Series HDTVs feature Bravia Sync technology and are compatible with optional Bravia Link Modules such as the Bravia Wireless Link, which wirelessly streams HD video and audio from your A/V equipment to your HDTV from up to 65 feet away. You might expect that more features mean more power consumption, but Bravia L-Series HDTVs include a Dynamic Backlight Control which automatically controls overall image brightness to help the TV exceed ENERGY STAR 3.0 standards.
Reviews from Customers

“So far so good, when in doubt buy a Sony”
I purchased this TV about a month ago as a replacement for a fairly new SDTV, that I merely replaced because I wanted something with more component connections that I could use for a multitude of different purposes. (Gaming, movies, HD programming etc.) As of this writing, I couldn’t be more satisfied the picture and sound are both amazing and it’s everything I was expecting and a whole lot more. Word to the wise though, You will need HD service and an HD receiver in order to get the most out of this set in terms of HD programming. I really dig the cinema setting that darkens the picture (This is optional) to replicate a movie theater experience when watching a movie, it’s a pretty cool feature. And in my opinion it’s hard to go wrong with a Sony due to their trusted name as a reputable brand.

“Great TV for the money”
This is my first HDTV. I bought it because my brother-in-law has the previous model, which is pretty much the same. He loves it for the bedroom because it’s light and just all around a great TV.

Cable broadcasts in 720p/1080i. So unless you have the room and money for a larger screen, have a Blu-Ray DVD player or are a serious gamer, go with the 720P and save yourself some bread.

I’m very happy with the sound and picture. I do not have this hooked up to a home theater. There are plenty of inputs, so it should work well for your system. I tried my JVC HD camcorder and it was simple to connect and view.

“Absolutely worth every penny”
I bought this TV at Best Buy for $447. Was surprised at how light it was, especially compared to the 25″ tube TV it was replacing. Anyway, got it out of the box, attached the stand, attached the cables and it was ready to go. Automatic setup took less than 5 minutes, and even found HD channels I didn’t know I had (Explanation: I have Time Warner cable and this would just be plugged directly into the coax with no cable box. Previously I was only seeing about 70 SD channels, this TV found about 90 SD and about 10 HD channels, so I was pleasantly surprised.)

The picture quality is great, sound is good, menu and operations are fairly straightforward and intuitive. Only reason I docked it one star is because the remote is only compatible with Sony products (Bravia specifically). I still need to keep my old remote to work the DVD player that will be used with this TV. Selfishness and greediness gets a one star deduction.

One sticky point, the “Favorites” menu lists the raw channel number, and rearranges then depending on which one is currently being viewed. How do I know what channel 112.1113 is?? I choose it to find out, then go back to the list and they are all rearranged…

Reviews from Customers

“Excellent, excellent, excellent!”
This is our second Sony TV, we bought a 32 “for the top and those for the whole family in the basement. The picture is great from all sides, and the sound quality is excellent. We recommend Sony!Sony BRAVIA 55-Inch

“GREAT TV AND GREAT PRICE FOR FAMILIES”
We decided to replace our RPT Pioneer in our family room (55 “-screen)

There are three windows, and large-screen TV screens have a lot of glare. That was the best picture and the image size for the price and it was a Sony.

We have always loved Sony. We bought online at Best Buy because the supply and installation including Geek Squad Home Theater.

Bad news is that the Sony 55 “we ordered went on sale for $ 200.00 less the next day. I called Best Buy and ask a representative price of the game. I wondered why I was $ 200.00 less todayMy Stuff just give up and cancel a new order? “He assured me that he had received a lot of money and when I stopped on my way I’d lose my time of delivery.

I want to trust my instincts and not trusted BEST BUY or their representatives. I did not cancel my order and I called twice last week to check for the best price, (which can not be processed until the card is paid for) I just got an email to my request for PRICE game was to get rejected because he is a “BUY” bundle and I have never known the pleasure!

TV was delivered yesterday, and that is a beauty. We look forward to a possible fix. We will put in our bedroom and get the Sony 60 or 65 for family room. The picture is great and we are still on the fence calibration. It looks great now!

BOTTOM LINE .. DO NOT TRUST THE BEST BUY for your purchases. YOU DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR customers only misleading, the purchase. WE DO NOT BUY anything from Best Buy. The only people who had been with us directly to the people handing third party who delivered the TV and set it up. They are big and not exactly what they promised.

Reviews from Customers

The person who is a review for this TV, which states that the TV only 61 or 62 inches is not correct. I have a delivery the next day or two, but because of his review, I went to fry and RC Wiley and measured me. It is 64.5 cm, which is what Sony stated in the website. I want a further review once I do.

“Big Screen best thing I’ve ever seen”
I had the 65 “Sony LCD for about a month, and it’s unbelievable. I am a 63″ Samsung plasma that I had replaced just delivered. The Samsung had a clear picture, but despite its size, the picture had to expect not only the effects of a screen that big. It is simply not bright enough.Sony really took care. The colors are natural, but also the “pop”. The clarity and brightness extraordinary. And let us put up with bigger screens are much fun to see, until the image quality is maintained. Watching sports and movies on this set is fascinating. I remember the first time I had an HD set and would not see anything, just because the picture was so phenomenal.Everything is watching TV in an explosion at this. I can not imagine how it could be improved (even if I connect to a surround system so I can not) comment on the TV speakers.

“Great LCD TV Sony ….!!! is a victory …”
Hello to all

I worked for the Big Screen Store in Fairfax, Virginia. We just received this series. I’m in this business for over 8 years and have sold the best flat screen has to offer (Pioneer, Sony XBR, etc.). When I was the first speaker of this series, I immediately get the correct settings to the appropriate level for our feed store HD. I was very happy with the color, clarity and impressive black levels of the image. E ‘was lively, but always very natural and skin tones were very good as well. As previously mentioned places is indeed the LCD screen 64.5 “diagonal, which makes it a 65″ TV. There are many inputs are available for all kinds of delicacies. The installation is very simple, with all new products like Sony, with the contribution of the recognition it is not necessary to scroll through unused inputs for TV, which saves time and effort when it comes to cable / satellite Blu – - Ray. As with any TV over 50 inches, look good, DVD, and not because there is something wrong with the TV, it’s just the limitations of DVD quality. You have to take on a Blu-ray, full benefit of the crowd.

I must admit I was a little “worried when I heard that Sony and Samsung have signed an agreement with Sharp for the manufacture of 65″ panels for them, but I am very impressed. The Sharp model is missing a good video processor, and therefore the picture quality of Sony and Samsung to produce 65 “LCD. Overall I am very satisfied impressed with the set.

As with all new flat screens, the sound sucks really bad about this TV. Even if you do not want / need a surround-sound, I recommend a separate audio setup. Whether it’s only stereo or surround. All TV is now just under 5-30 watt speakers, and most of them are on the back of your TV for aesthetic reasons, which of course is not conducive to listen well built. I sat in the formation of a variety of Sony, Samsung, etc. All vendors have the same mentality that does not need to care about the sound, and in all age groups now have at least a separate stereo. Know that the headphones run on 5 watts? 50% more volume, it was like a nice pair of headphones from his head and listened to them from afar. Do you have your ears, and the TV system a favor and get a sound system!

Thank you!

For consumers who want an HDTV that keeps pace with fast-action movies, sports, and game play, Sony BRAVIA V-Series Flat Panel HDTVs combine Full HD 1080p performance and Motionflow 120Hz technology for an amazing viewing experience. Motionflow 120Hz takes both high-definition and standard programming a step further by increasing sharpness and detail in fast-moving images for more fluid, natural motion. In addition, BRAVIA V-Series HDTVs use proprietary Image Blur Reduction technology to further enhance the picture for even better performance. The HDTVs also feature BRAVIA Engine 2 technology, which uses exclusive Sony algorithms to reduce visual noise and sharpen and enhance an already-striking dynamic contrast ratio. Additionally, they include seven versatile HD connections to ensure you get impressive image quality from all your HD components. Take advantage of four HDMI inputs, component and composite inputs, and a PC input, as well as a USB input that lets you play audio files from USB storage devices, or connect a compatible camera to your HDTV for a quick and easy slide show. Sony knows your home theater set-up doesn’t stop with your HDTV, which is why the BRAVIA V-Series HDTVs are compatible with BRAVIA Link Modules — including the BRAVIA Wireless Link, BRAVIA DVD Link, and BRAVIA Input Link Modules (all sold separately). The HDTVs also support BRAVIA SyncTM technology so you can control all of your compatible devices with a single remote. And all BRAVIA HDTVs exceed ENERGY STAR 3.0 requirements for in-use and stand-by power consumption, meaning you don’t need a lot of power to get a lot of performance.
Reviews from Customers

“Excellent new model”
I just hooked it up yesterday, to replace my 50″ Samsung DLP that broke. I had a 32″ Vizio in its place for the past month, waiting for this model. Overall, I am very pleased with the set. As usual, the HD channels look spectacular and the interface is tremendously better than that of the Vizio’s. It is hooked up to a HD DVR cable box, but configuration was a breeze. The non-HD channels definitely take a huge hit, as they look pretty bad on this size screen. In reality I wish I could have just gotten a 50″ since the 2″ additional makes a big difference in the overall size, but I am still pleased with the TV and glad I waited for this model to get the improved contrast ratio and 120 refresh rate.

“Amazing HD Picture, but first TV delivered was defective”
WHO TO BUY FROM: Amazon did not have this item in stock, so I waited for Amazon to have it in stock before buying – turned out to be the right decision. I bought another LCD tv last year from “ButterflyPhoto”, a seller on Amazon’s website, and it was a horrible experience. So I vowed never to buy a big ticket item from any other seller than Amazon on its site. Those sellers have such great reviews b/c if you get screwed like I did and the sale never goes through, you can never rate them. So only happy customers get to rate those sellers, hence the above-avg reviews.

DELIVERY AND DEFECTIVE TV: I ordered the TV on a Thurs and it was delivered to my house on Tues. Pilot (carrier) called to schedule and appt, brought it into my house, took it out of the box and placed it on my tv stand, then made sure it worked before asking me to sign. But by Friday, a 1/2 cm black line appeared in the screen (yikes!). On Sat. I called Amazon and they were great in shipping out a replacement TV immediately at no extra cost to me (they even gave me the option to replace with another make/model). The new TV arrived the next Fri and Pilot packaged and removed the defective TV. The new TV works fine (so far, fingers crossed). After mentioning my ordeal to several friends, a few mentioned they had defective LCD TVs also – so I guess its not so uncommon.

Dealing with Amazon is great. If I bought from those other sellers, I would have been left to deal with Sony via the warranty – No Thanks! Its worth the extra hundred dollars or so to go with Amazon.

PICTURE QUALITY: The HD picture is amazing. I had a 2004 42′ Sony WEGA that produced 1080i, but the Bravia is a much, much better HD picture (however, it seems Comcast broadcasts in 1080i, not 1080p). When watching sports on my WEGA, the picture could not handle fast action so well. The Bravia corrects this pretty well (via the 120hz) and there is definitely a noticable difference/improvement versus my old WEGA. The 120hz is well worth the money.

BOTTOM LINE, at $1,823, I am happy with the TV even after the first one was defective. I found the Samsung to be too glossy a picture and didn’t like the touch of red, so the 52v5100 was the perfect TV for me at that price. Buy from Amazon, not those other tricksters.

“Amazing”
Just picked this up yesterday from the local BB to replace my aging 7 year old Sony 46″ rear projection 1080i set with this puppy…

Now that we get MotionFlow @ 120hz on the V series I think this set is a no brainer. If I had the money I would probably choose this over the XBR anyways because i think it’s a good value and I honestly can’t tell the difference between this and the XBR. I just had to pop in Planet Earth on the PS3 and watch the bird scene from the beginning of Pole to Pole and it’s like going from SDTV to HDTV all over again how sharp everything looks now.

Reviews from Customers

“I love this television”
This is my first ever review and my first leap into the hdtv arena. I’ve been waiting for quite some time to purchase an “almost perfect” tv at a great price. Had my eye on the 55xbr8 which probably has a superior picture because of its LED backlighting. Also in the running was the super slim Samsung B8000. I ruled out the Samsung because of its limited connectivity and a review written by the owner of one which stated that the edge backlighting caused a halo effect around the tv in a darkened room. I decided to go with the 52xbr9 because of its moderate depth, hidden speakers, built-in internet video and widgets, and much more resonable price than the 55xbr8.

I’ve had this baby for 3 weeks and I’m still in the process of learning about how to get the best out of it. Out of the box, I was blown away by how great the picture looks. HD channels really come alive. SD channels are just ok. DVD’s look great, with a little added help from my Oppo dvd player. Haven’t purchased a blu-ray player yet. Built-in internet video quality ranges anywhere from outstanding to extremely poor. That all depends on the source content and your connection speed. Because of its florescent backlighting, this tv generates a lot of heat. The longer it’s on, the warmer the room feels. The owners manual warns against enclosed installations and advises a free air space of 4 inches on boths sides and bottom and 11 7/8 at the top to prevent heat damage or possible fire. If you’ve been thinking about putting this tv in a tight spot, please don’t.

I wall-mounted this tv in my bedroom above the dresser in place of the mirror. My bedroom is 12×12 and no, this tv is not too big. Keep in mind that probably half of all viewing on a widescreen tv will not fill the entire screen without distorting the picture, so the bigger the tv, the happier you’ll be. My favorite thing of all is the pc input. I have it connected to a pc in the next room which has dual monitor display capabilities. The pc display quality is outstandingly sharp. I’m now able to lounge in bed and surf the net on the big screen using my Gyration wireless compact keyboard and air mouse ( all purchased from Amazon at a great price btw). I’m also able to stream all the Netflix movies I want via pc at no additional cost than my $8.99 monthly membership. Surprisingly, Netflix streaming video quality is usually very good.

The bottom line….This is a fantastic tv. Sound quality is very good for a flat panel, especially in surround mode. Speakers are on the bottom of tv (not the back) and are of decent size. Amazon had the best price and more importantly, they can be trusted. Black levels aren’t quite as dark as with tvs with LED backlighting but the picture is still quite good. Shipping was fast. Amazon’s customer service kept me well informed with the status of my shipment and Pilot delivery service was very easy to work with. If you’ve been playing the waiting game to purchase a great HD television as I have…you need not wait any longer.

UPDATE…August 1, 2009…Netflix will be coming this fall to Sony Bravia. They’ve already added the Netflix icon on the internet video menu of my tv. That’s one more reason to buy this remarkable television.

“Impressive.”
This is a very impressive TV. It replaces a 34-inch Sony WEGA tube-based high-def television that I bought in 2003, and I have an XBR6 in another room.

Picture quality is very good. I’m not an expert and won’t quibble about technical details. All I know is that I can see the makeup that doesn’t completely cover the news anchor’s face, and I can examine his dental work. That’s probably more than I really need to see. The picture seems to pop out into the room, and that effect is enhanced by the TV’s narrow frame. There’s a little bit of what I guess is called “mura” when there is no picture on the screen, but it’s hardly noticeable and vanishes completely when a picture appears, even if the picture doesn’t occupy the entire screen. Not an issue at all.

Sound quality is also very good. I use a separate speaker and amp system if I’m watching something where sound is especially important, but the built-in speakers here serve their purpose quite well and are amply adequate for routine use.

For me the most interesting thing is the ethernet connection, though this is not for browsing the ‘net. Sony is still in the process of updating its internet presentation, but I have used the TV to download high-definition movies from Amazon, and it worked very well. Some competition in that space would be useful. Why no NetFlix access? (8/4/09: After an automatic software update last night there’s a NetFlix logo and a message that NetFlix access will be available in the fall.)

With movies and TV programs available from Amazon and others, with the Bravia’s expanding internet access, and with local broadcast stations offering multiple digital channels with different content, this TV could compete with cable and DirecTV. DirecTV’s limited selection of pay per view movies just cannot compare to this. Also, the increasing capability for “a la carte” purchase of program episodes currently available only through DirecTV (or other cable or satellite providers) will reduce the value of my monthly subscription. Really has made me consider my DirecTV subscription.

The XBR9 can retrieve photographs (or music or movies) from my computer via my home ethernet network, or from a flash drive plugged into a USB port, so I’ll be able to make lots of people view my photographs and slide shows! (Of course, seeing your photos on this screen in superb color and detail will necessitate another visit to Amazon to upgrade your collection of photography paraphernalia.)

One little quibble: there’s a panel of switches located on the right side at exactly the position where I put my hand to move the TV on its mount (Amazon shows an image). Sure would have been thoughtful of Sony if they could have provided some kind of protective device to make it a little harder to accidentally flip one of those switches when I’m trying to adjust the position of the TV.

Finally, and this is important: I installed it using a Sanus wall mount Sanus Systems VMAA26B Universal Articulating Mount with Extended Reach for 30″ to 50″ Displays (Black). The TV has a lot of mass, and if the cables reach their limit while the TV is still moving, something has to give. So be careful to leave enough slack in the connecting cables to allow the TV to move freely throughout its range. That’s especially important with the coaxial antenna cable that screws into its connection and can’t merely be pulled out, but it seems possible that you could also damage other connectors, including the HDMI connections.

“Incrediable TV”
Had the TV for about a week. Was quick and great delivery with a very good price from amazon.com (direct). Price was lower than the 52XBR6 or 52XBR7

The picture is amazing. I have not seen any of the black ghosting. 240mhz appears to work well on sports. NBA Finals and Stanley cup were/are incredible.

Internet features are nice too.

Only con is speakers are on back of TV. Not bad sound, but I will be hooking to a home theater system, which completes the HD experience.

This TV is highly recommended!
